Founded in 2026, ZEWU QUARTER was born from the observations of a Gen Z founder living in a fast-moving world.
We live in a time of constant motion. People work, move, express, connect, and respond to the world at increasing speed. The faster life becomes, the more we seem to need a place that truly belongs to us: a tabletop, a bedside, a hallway, a garden seat, a dressing table, or simply a quiet light in a room at night.
This is what ZEWU QUARTER believes: true living often happens in the quiet corners of everyday life.
Our name carries a double meaning in Chinese. “Ze” speaks to nourishment, and also echoes “ze” as in choosing with care. “Wu” means objects. To us, Zewu is both a way of nourishing daily life through craft, and a way of carefully choosing objects with warmth, roots, and lasting presence.
“Quarter” is the small place each of us returns to in a busy world. It may belong to a house or an apartment, to a corner of the home, to the body, the table, the bag, the car, or a private moment of stillness.
ZEWU QUARTER brings Chinese living craft back into everyday use — through objects to be touched, used, carried, gifted, and slowly collected over time.

China holds a rich and living heritage of materials, techniques, and ways of making — carried forward by generations of artisans, craft teachers, studios, and cultural communities.
ZEWU QUARTER does not aim to represent everything at once. We begin with careful selection. We work with Chinese intangible heritage practitioners, craft teachers, studios, contemporary artists, designers, and cultural partners to explore how traditional craft can return to contemporary life with sincerity, beauty, and use.
Rather than presenting heritage as something fixed in the past, we look for ways to translate it into objects, stories, workshops, collaborations, and living experiences. A traditional textile may become a table piece, a pouch, a pet-friendly home object, a workshop kit, or a seasonal gift. A craft process may become a class, a story, a cultural project, or a new form of contemporary living.
We also welcome more designers, artists, craft studios, and cultural practitioners to connect with us. If your work explores material, tradition, form, daily objects, or contemporary Eastern living, we would love to hear from you.

ZEWU QUARTER is still a young brand, and that is why sincerity matters to us.
I was born in Shanghai. When I was little, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents in the countryside. Because of that, rural places have never felt distant to me. They feel familiar — with their slower rhythm, handmade things, seasonal food, old houses, and the kind of warmth that stays in your memory for a long time.
Culture has always been something I was naturally drawn to. I studied communication at Tongji University in Shanghai and later at the London School of Economics. Over the years, I have traveled to nearly thirty countries, and no matter where I go, I always find myself walking into museums, galleries, local markets, old streets, and small workshops.
A handmade object can be felt before its story is translated.
Living between different cultures taught me something simple: people may speak different languages, but many feelings are shared. A piece of music can make people smile before anyone explains it. A handmade object can be felt before its story is translated. A warm home, a thoughtful gift, a familiar material, a careful gesture — these small things often bring people closer than words.
In the past two years, after returning to China, I have also had the chance to meet many international visitors. Some came for museums, some for craft workshops, some simply because they were curious about China. I was always touched when they told me they wanted to come back again. It made me realize that interest in Chinese culture is real — especially when it is shared through something people can see, touch, use, and remember.
At the same time, I began to see another side of the story. China has many beautiful craft traditions and many deeply skilled makers, especially in rural and mountain communities. Some of them have spent decades with one material or one technique, but may not have the tools to turn their work into products, stories, or experiences that can reach a wider audience.
ZEWU QUARTER is my attempt to build that bridge.
